North Canterbury Earthquake information

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit Canterbury at 4.35am on Saturday 4th September, causing widespread damage to infrastructure, as well as commercial and residential property. This was followed by a 6.3 magnitude aftershock on the 22nd of February. There was minimal additional damage to the Waimakariri District from that aftershock.

The New Foundations website will keep you up to date with what is happening in each of the five most affected areas and exactly how the Waimakariri District Council, with a number of other agencies, will create New Foundations for these areas.
